Patients – How to Prepare – Ultrasound

Ultrasound

WHAT WILL HAPPEN DURING MY ULTRASOUND?

You will be asked to lie down on the Ultrasound table and expose the area that is to be reviewed. The Ultrasound equipment or ‘Transducer’ is placed against the skin and moved around as necessary to obtain the appropriate images. A saline-based gel is applied to the skin to allow easy movement of the Transducer and assist with image quality. Ultrasounds are usually not painful although sometimes added pressure upon the area is needed to obtain the best possible images. As Ultrasounds are non-invasive and safe, patients can resume normal activity immediately after completion
